Bonnie served as an Iowa superintendent of schools for 15 years. She started exploring and writing grants in 1989 when she wanted to implement an innovative program in her school, but did not have the funding for it. Since then she has written several millions of dollars in grants.

Jean Drey is a Licensed Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW) and has spent the majority of her professional career leading the implementation of new programs and services. In 1998, she started writing and managing grants to meet the funding challenges facing programs in rural Northwest Iowa. Since then she has written grants bringing in millions of dollars in new funding. In the past few years she has focused on program development activities to assist agencies in building capacity for writing and administering grants, creating tools and processes for community needs assessment, logic model building, strategic planning, and grant start-up and downsizing.
